Priceless Scenery in Edinburgh

London Festival Opera made its début in Edinburgh recently with an Opera Soirée in the splendid setting of the National Gallery of Scotland. The performance, which was in costume of the period of the building, was in the main gallery which provided what must be our most expensive scenery back drops to date - the room is filled with masterpieces by Titian and El Greco of the finest quality. After the performance 'the three graces' from London Festival Opera posed in front of Canova's version.

Cruising with Opera

Presenting opera on cruises is an increasing area for the company, which has included performances on the QE2 and Queen Mary 2 recently. The company took part in a specialist music cruise on the Danube River with distinguished lecturer Humphrey Burton. The programmes featured music associated with the river and in particular Vienna and ended with a highlight performance of Mozart's 'The Magic Flute' in costume.
